A possible distant relative, Robert Geshel of Phoenix, writes with some information about the Magdits family tree. Alois Magdits apparently had 10 children, including a Stefan Magdits born Oct. 29, 1909, who married Theresia Csencsits; one of their children was Stefan, who married Emerich Golles. It’s unknown whether this son, Stefan, is the Stefan Magdits listed here.
One other tidbit from Bob Geshel: “Currently, the only information I have about the Magdits name is that it is Croatian in origin. The pronunciation of the name is Magdtisch (mag ditch). I’ll need to read more about the history of migration of Croatian people into the Burgenland area of Austria.” Burgenland was heavily settled by Croatians.
