Short bioTory, the youngest of five children, grew up in northern New Jersey. For years she, her husband and son owned Stagg Farm, a seasonal roadstand business where Edson grew annual flowers for the spring, sold fruits and vegetables during the summer, and sold Christmas trees, wreaths and grave blankets after Thanksgiving. Many family members worked at the roadstand, and relatives would always make their way over there in early December to pick up a good Christmas tree. (A Sheraton now covers the site.) Tory and Ed used to travel frequently. On a trip in the mid-1990s with her friend Connie Sarno, she fell and broke her hip in Russia and had to be flown to Finland in a Medivac.
