Short bioLil was born in Passaic, NJ, moved with the family to New Britain, Conn., from age 3 to 13, then returned to Passaic. Lil was voted “best looking girl” in a class of 143 boys and girls at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School, Passaic, NJ in June 1938. Her favorite pastime in school was skating. In the early 1940s Lil worked a machine to embroider handkerchiefs for $18/week. She was a longtime waitress at Steve’s Pizzeria in East Paterson, NJ, and later was a dance instructor.

Lillian (Sporn), 94, of Elmwood Park, passed away on January 10, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Emil Lasica. Loving mother to Kathy Schiro, Joseph Lasica, and the late George Lasica; she is survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three sisters and a brother.

Lillian was born in Passaic and lived in New Britain, CT for 13 years. She was a waitress at Steve’s Restaurant in Fair Lawn, prior to that she worked at Friedman’s Embroidery in Passaic & Forstmann Woolen in Garfield.

She was a parishioner of St. Anne’s R.C. Church in Elmwood Park and a member of the Friendship Club & AARP.

Visiting on Saturday, January 21st, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 Noon, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 PM at the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian to the Sisters of Mercy, c/o Kathy Schiro, Mount Saint Mary, 1645 Rt. 22 W, Watchung, NJ 07069 would be appreciated.
