Short bioThis was Emil Lasica’s Uncle Joe. He lived for a time with his sister, Katherine. He didn’t have children, and according to his nephew, Emil Lasica, he never married. At age 17, Jozef Delenta immigrated to the United States from Poland a few days before his sister Katherine (our grandmother): On Feb. 10, 1909, he arrived at Ellis Island aboard the Kronprinzessin Cecilie, which departed the port of Bremen, Germany, according to the Ellis Island website. He was 4-foot-10, with brown hair and blue eyes, and he was going to stay with a friend’s sister in Warren, Rhode Island; his friend, Antoni Balut (unsure of spelling), was a 32-year-old married man from Kamien who accompanied him to the US and was listed above Jozef on the passenger list.
