Short bioWe believe her formal name was Victoria (“Wiktoria” in Polish) but that she went by the name Rosalia — the name Victoria appeared on her son’s birth certificate, but other family members knew her as Rosalia.

According to Rose Krzys Dul, who married Rosalia’s son Michael, Rosalia Lasica and Kasper Dul had three children: John, who was born in Pennsylvania, later moved to Poland with his family; Michael, born July 22, 1907, in Detroit; and Maria, who was born in Poland in 1910 and remained there. Rosalia moved to the United States for several years but returned to Gwozdziec, Poland, with her husband and two sons, probably between 1907 and 1910. She lived there until her death.

We believe Rosalia (aka Victoria) was born between July 1876 and July 1877 because she was 30 when she gave birth to Michael, according to Michael’s birth certificate. Rosalia’s niece, Maria Lasica Bordon, visited Gwozdziec during a trip there in 1969. Rosalia was Joseph Lasica‘s great aunt, though he didn’t know about her until August 2000.
