Short bioAccording to family history, Jan Lasica was born in Poland (he was Joseph Lasica‘s grandfather Wojciech George Lasica‘s brother), came to the United States but returned to live in Poland during the Great Depression. (His sister Rosalia, also known as Victoria, also came to the U.S. but returned to Poland.)

A farmer, he was given land reclaimed by Poland (from Prussia or the Ukraine) after World War 2. Jan Lasica lived in Kamionka, a village just northeast of Kwidzyn, in northern Poland, and was buried there. His nephews Walenty Lasica and Stephan Lasica and niece Anna Lasica Gut lived in that area, too. He and wife Katarzyna Sudol Lasica had one child that we know of, Franciszka Lasica Ordon, born in 1912 in the United States. Jan may have had other children. Franciszka moved with her parents back to Poland and lived in Korzeniewo, a town just west of Kwidzyn, before her death in 2007. We originally listed his date of death as 1949 but the Ordon family site offers a specific date in 1947. We have no photos of Jan. Jan was Joseph Lasica‘s great uncle.
