Short bioErnie and Lorraine met in 1946 and married in 1947. His son Kenn says, “My dad was in the Carpenters Union but was a floor layer for Acme Flooring Co. in Passaic, New Jersey and in the ’70s went on to be partners with Harold Shea and they continued the business until he retired.” Ernie was a favorite of his nephews and nieces because of his nonstop sense of humor. He liked card games and flew out to Las Vegas with Lorraine on several occasions.

Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton before moving to Wallington 62 years ago. He was co-owner and operator of Acme Floor Coverings in Clifton for 35 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of Carpenters Union, Local 2212, and a parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Wallington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; his children, Kenneth Sporn of Jersey City and Gale Froeba of Metarie, La.; a granddaughter; and his sister, Lillian Lasica of Elmwood Park. His sisters, Helen Rachevich, Mildred Sporn, and Gladys DeVries, are deceased.
